Is Seafarer Free really free?
Yes. Seafarer Free costs nothing and needs no card. You still choose it through the same checkout step as a paid plan, so your account records which plan you are on.
How is Seafarer PRO priced?
By rank. The PRO card shows the price for the rank you pick, and the plan you buy is the one for the rank on your profile — so set your rank before you upgrade.
Can an agency charge me a fee to find me work?
No. Tideward's Acceptable Use Policy forbids any company on the platform from charging a seafarer a recruitment or placement fee, in line with MLC 2006 Regulation 1.4. If it happens, tell us at legal@rsm-software.com.
Does Tideward employ me?
No. Tideward is software and a mediator. The manning agency, ship manager or owner that hires you is your employer; Tideward never is.
What if I change my mind?
You can withdraw from a new Seafarer plan within 14 days. If you asked for it to start straight away, you are refunded what you paid less the days you have already had. After the 14 days, cancelling stops the renewal and your plan runs to the end of the month you have paid for.

Questions about these plans
What does the free agency plan include?
Your own crew register, the Tideward pool and the marketplace of seafarers open to work, and your vessel list. Planning, crew change, contracts, documents, money and the AI tools come with the paid plan — each card lists its plan's modules from the live catalogue.
Can we charge seafarers for a placement?
No. Charging a seafarer a recruitment or placement fee is forbidden by the Acceptable Use Policy, in line with MLC 2006 Regulation 1.4. Your agency remains the hiring party; Tideward is a mediator, never the employer.
How do upgrades and downgrades work?
An upgrade takes effect straight away and is charged at once, pro rata, for the rest of the month you have paid for. A downgrade takes effect at the end of that month, with no refund of the difference. Both are made on the Account page of your portal.
What are seats?
Each company plan includes a number of seats of three kinds: users, seafarers and vessels, and each card above shows its plan's seats and the price of an extra seat. When you use more seats of a kind than your plan includes, the extra seats are added automatically as add-ons at that price and charged with your subscription; you agree to this when you register your company. Seats you stop using drop off at the start of the next billing period.
Can we sign an order form or a master services agreement?
Yes — write to sales@rsm-software.com. A signed order form or master services agreement takes precedence over the online terms where the two differ.

Buying and billing
Is the price on the card what I pay?
For a Seafarer plan, yes: the price includes all applicable taxes. For a company plan, the price on the card is excluding taxes; any applicable taxes are applied at check-out.
How do I pay?
By card, through Stripe's hosted checkout, monthly in advance and in euro. Stripe issues an invoice for each payment; the Manage billing in Stripe button on the Account page of your portal opens Stripe's own billing portal, where you see your invoices and change your card or cancel.
Can I cancel at any time?
Yes. Your plan stays active until the end of the month you have paid for, and part-months are not refunded. A seafarer who buys a plan as a consumer can also withdraw within 14 days. The Refund and cancellation policy on the Legal page has the detail.
Which terms apply?
The Terms of Service, the Refund and cancellation policy and the Privacy Policy, all on the Legal page. You accept the Terms of Service when you sign up and are shown the Privacy Policy; the checkout asks you to accept the Terms and the Refund policy before you pay.
Does Tideward employ seafarers?
No. Tideward provides software and connectivity. Manning agencies, ship managers and owners remain the hiring parties; Tideward helps with verified profiles, pool visibility rules and the desks around them — not contracts of employment.
